NiVyn ElderSafe is designed around explicit consent. Precise family location sharing is off by default and can be stopped by the person being located.
What we collect
We collect account and contact information, authentication and security records, check-ins, family links, device and notification information, subscription records, and the safety information needed to provide the features you choose. When location sharing is enabled, we may process location points, saved places, expected-arrival plans and driving summaries according to the selected settings.
Location privacy
- Location sharing is off by default.
- The person being located controls whether sharing is enabled and whether shared location is precise or approximate.
- Temporary sharing can expire automatically.
- Linked family cannot enable location sharing or upload another person's coordinates.
- Location history is bounded by the selected plan and preference, with an absolute 30-day application retention ceiling.
- Stopping sharing stops future collection by NiVyn ElderSafe and prevents linked family from receiving location coordinates through family-safety APIs.
Why we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, provide daily check-ins, family communication, safety alerts, consented location features, expected-arrival monitoring, account support, fraud/security protection, billing, privacy requests and legally required audit records. We do not sell personal information for advertising.
Who can see it
Information is shared only as needed with linked family members you authorize and service providers used to operate NiVyn ElderSafe, such as hosting, push notification, email, communications and payment providers. Providers are expected to process information only for the contracted service.
Retention and deletion
Different records have different retention periods. Location history is limited to 2, 7 or 30 days according to the active entitlement and user preference. Security, billing and audit records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary or legally required. Account deletion requests trigger revocation and scheduled hard deletion, subject to legally required records.
Your choices and rights
You can change consent settings, stop location sharing, request access or correction, export your information, withdraw consent and request deletion through the application or by contacting privacy@nivyn.ca. Quebec residents may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Security
NiVyn ElderSafe uses HTTPS/TLS, encrypted production storage, protected application secrets, session revocation, MFA for sensitive family/admin operations, audit logging and production monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Important safety limitation
NiVyn ElderSafe is a family coordination and safety application. It is not a medical device and is not a replacement for 911 or local emergency services. Suspected crash or fall signals are not presented as guaranteed medical-grade detection.
